On Saturday 10 March, GRS was visited by Paul and Sharon Boorstin from Los Angeles. Paul is an award winning documentary filmmaker, screenwriter, and author, and both he and Sharon are contributors to the Los Angeles Times. Following the kiddush after services, Paul gave a talk about his recently published novel David and the Philistine Woman, a fictional account of David’s early years leading up to his encounter with Goliath, with the introduction of the fictional ‘Philistine Woman’, a heroic and pivotal character in the story, experiencing both Philistine and Israelite cultures. The resulting discussion was quite lively!
The GRS office has some copies of the book available for purchase.
Some information on Paul and the book can be found his website paulboorstin.com, and a discussion guide to the book can be downloaded from the Jewish Book Council website.
