A Memorable Shabbat

Nathan Godleman
Student Rabbi Nathan Godleman

GRS extended a very warm welcome to Student Rabbi Nathan Godleman on 10 December.  Nathan—in the fourth year of his studies at Leo Baeck College—led the Shabbat morning service and facilitated a Torah study session, drawing on Milton Steinberg’s historical novel “As a Driven Leaf” as the basis for discussion.  Set in Roman times and drawing on figures and stories from the Talmud, the novel paints an exciting portrayal of life in ancient Israel, which made for a lively and engaging group study.

A special “Thank You Kiddush” was provided in recognition of the very valuable contribution the shul’s many volunteers make to the running of the synagogue.

From the GRS Chair: “It was a wonderful day. The service was beautiful and it was lovely that so many in the community came along to meet the Student Rabbi and to let our volunteers know that we appreciate everything they do for us as a community”.
